White Sound Defense recoil springs provide the reliability and corrosion resistance needed for military and field environments. These springs are heavily plated with a protective composite that provides a high level of protection, even in the presence of salt water. It is this composite that gives the springs their speckled green and silver surface. When combined with reasonable firearm maintenance these springs will endure the most hostile of environmental conditions.

As these springs are intended for military / tactical applications they are OEM equivalent rate (poundage) for use with standard commercial or military loads.

WSD recoil springs for M&P pistols are made from an enhanced tensile strength music wire. This steel exhibits extreme toughness and durability while providing an excellent substrate for the protective plating. It is the most durable and longest lasting material available for this application

Unlike other recoil springs these springs have open rather than closed ends. This means all the coils are active which improves the function and longevity of the spring. However, the open ends are not effectively retained by most captured guide rods, so the use of uncaptured rods is recommended. (See Video Links Below For Details)

Maintenance:
No special maintenance is needed for these springs outside the normal cleaning and lubricating of the firearm.

FAQ:

Q: Why does the guide rod (and sometimes the underside of the barrel) turn silver/grey when using White Sound Defense springs?

A: The rust preventative coating on the springs can rub onto surrounding surfaces giving them a grey/silver color. It is usually most noticeable on the guide rod. This is a bit like grease spreading from one surface to another and is not harmful.
